Sheena was given to a rescue organization at the airport in Covington, LA (St. Tammany Parish) in October, as owner surrendered, without the owner's authorization. Description: Prince is a purebred American Eskimo with a double coat of hair that may have become matted from the water. He is developing cataracts and he also has a little arthritis in his hind legs and hip area which makes it difficult for him to stand up sometimes. Occasionally the arthritis bothers him enough that he has to rest after short periods of standing or walking. There is a black mark above his right eye that resembles a mole and brown markings around his ears. Before Katrina, Prince was being treated for a sore on his back leg so the hair was missing in this area, but it may have healed. He is a protective dog, was well taken care of, and was raised around children and is very good around them. He loves to lay around and to play with his rope and dish. Prince loves Dog Bone Treats and will jump in the air, completely off the ground, to catch them when you throw him a treat. He loves the outdoors and hates being caged. Before Katrina, Prince spent most of his time outdoors and would dig holes in the yard to create cool spots in which he'd rest. Prince also loved to sit on his bench on the back patio. He was up to date on all his shots and took heartworm prevention medicine.
Last seen: Prince was last seen in his yard at 105 Seal Drive, Arabi, LA 70032 (Carolyn Park Subdivision) (St. Bernard's Parish) on August 29, 2005. According to a St. Bernard Parish Temporary Rescue data sheet, this dog was brought to Camp Lucky.

There is a full brown saddle in the middle of his back, extending down the left side and 1/2 brown saddle on his right shoulder area. Max also has a large brown spot on his butt at the tail.
Last seen: Max was rescued from his home at 827 Second Street, New Orleans (Orleans Parish) by the SPCA (markings were left on the front door) on 09/08/05, along with a companion dog named Zak. The owner found Zak at Lamar-Dixon on 09/12/05, but there was no sign of Max. The owner was told to come back in a couple of days, which they did, but there was still no sign of Max. It is known that Max was definitely at Lamar-Dixon because this photo (found by the owner), taken at Lamar-Dixon, shows Max in a crate.

"DANTE"

Breed: Siberian Husky
Gender: Male (intact at time of storm)
Age: 5 yrs
Weight: 80 lbs
Lost IDs: PF61471, PF840
Petfinder lost links: http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/rescue/reportDetail.cgi?id=61471
http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/rescue/reportDetail.cgi?id=840
Description: Dante is a large black and white Siberian Husky, about 80 pounds when lost. He is very energetic and a picky eater. He has a black line extending from his forehead to his nose and he also appears to be wearing white socks. He was wearing a black collar when lost without tags.
Last seen: Dante got out of his yard at 265 Gordon Road, River Ridge, LA 70123, two days before Katrina hit. It is quite possible that he wandered a ways before the storm hit.

Unfortunately, there are no pictures of Dante; the pictures at left are of a dog rescued after Katrina that the owner believes to be Dante. The owner believes that the dog pictured is most likely Dante. The dog pictured was last seen in a yard in Bucktown (Metairie, Jefferson Parish) in the 70005 area in the early days following Katrina (early September). The owner of the home was feeding him and then he disappeared. There was a large rescue effort in that area and it is believed that Dante was a part of that rescue sweep.

"SNOOP"

Breed: Lab/Chow
Gender: Male
Age: 13 years
Weight: 70 lbs
Lost ID: PF61827
Petfinder lost link: http://disaster.petfinder.com/emergency/rescue/reportDetail.cgi?id=61827
Description: Snoop is a Lab/Chow mix with somewhat long, curly black hair with a reddish tint and white on his snout from aging. His ears are floppyand reddish-brown. He is a very friendly dog, he responds to his name, and he loves to drink ice water! He has at least one chipped tooth. He was wearing a red, white and blue flea collar and may have been wearing a tan or brown collar. In the photo at left, Snoop's hair had just been cut short - it may be longer now.
Last seen: On or around 12/5/05 at 7634 Mercier St, New Orleans East (Orleans Parish). Snoop survived Hurricane Katrina, waiting faithfully at his severely damaged home for his owners to return. Returning home after 5 weeks, his owners were thrilled to find their friendly 13 year old Chow Mix alive and well. Snoop was left in his yard when his owners went for supplies and was missing upon their return 20 minutes later. A neighbor reported that he thought someone in a white van took Snoop from the yard. There is a $1000 reward for Snoop's safe return.
